So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.
In 2016, the average American adult spent over 5 hours per day watching TV. That is a lot of time. If they had spent that time working, by the time they retired (assuming they retire at 70), and considering that average wage of $16.40/hour they could have an extra $1,556,360 in their pocket. That is some serious money! And if the whole adult population of 258 million got their butts off the couch and got to work, the resulting money could pay the national debt 14 times!
If everything we own belongs to God, doesn’t our time also belong to Him?
In the parable of the talents, the Master gave his servants the talents to steward, not to bury. We are like those servants. God has given us time to steward, not to waste.
When the Master found out the third servant did nothing with his talents he sent him away saying, “You wicked and slothful servant! [...] Cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Don’t waste the time God has given you to steward. Make every second count. Time is ticking and no one can stop it. Like water in a hand, your life is slipping through the cracks. What are you going to do with it?
